School with an international Cambridge Program

WAWEL INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

Cambridge
Programme

Wawel International School runs the Cambridge Primary programme, designed for children aged 5 to 11. Cambridge Primary offers international teaching, developing both pupils’ skills and their knowledge in the areas of English, Maths and Science. The subjects are taught entirely in English. Cambridge Primary is fully adapted for implementation in English-speaking and bilingual schools, and is compatible with the core curriculum in the country.

In addition to the high quality curricula, Cambridge International also offers the Cambridge Global Perspectives programme, which enables students to develop intercultural competence and teaches investigative discovery of the world through project-based work. At Wawel International School, this programme is delivered as a separate subject, so that students have the opportunity to put into practice the knowledge they have gained in their educational classes and seek answers to their research questions on their own.

Wawel International School has been using the Cambridge Primary programme since kindergarten, offering international education from an early age.

Cambridge programmes are dedicated to students aged 5 to 19 and are used by top international schools around the world. Cambridge Primary, Cambridge Lower Secondary, Cambridge Upper Secondary and Cambridge Advanced allow for a smooth transition between the different stages of education.

A wide range of subjects and the possibility to adapt the content to the national core curriculum allow students to acquire knowledge at the highest level. Modern teaching methods and networking with schools from dozens of countries create a unique opportunity to learn in an international environment, in a passionate and open environment.

Cambridge education is based on five foundations

The qualifications offered by Cambridge are internationally recognised and valued by secondary schools, colleges and employers alike. Students are therefore assured that, whether they choose to stay in their home country or take up education or work in any part of the world, they will have a solid education that is recognised in almost every country and will be an asset on the job market.

Cambridge International focuses on combining broad subject knowledge with logical thinking skills and conceptual understanding. It allows students’ progress to be monitored systematically and supports them in their knowledge acquisition process in English and bilingual teaching.

The Cambridge learner profile promotes the development of qualities such as engaged, confident, responsible, reflective and innovative. Importantly, the organisation expects these qualities to be taught not only to students but also to teachers, so that the whole school community is encouraged and supported in its self-development.

Cambridge programmes offer students:

Cambridge Primary pupil examinations:

Cambridge Primary Checkpoint Tests – these are the summative tests for the Cambridge Primary programme. They cover English, maths and science subjects. It is important to note that the English test is available in two versions – English as a mother tongue and English as a second language. Cambridge Primary Checkpoints allow students to see what their strengths are and what topics they need to work on. The tests are assessed by external Cambridge examiners, according to a score that is uniform for students worldwide. Students can take the tests in May or October. The topics tested by Cambridge Primary Checkpoint are in line with the Cambridge Primary International Core Curriculum for English, Mathematics and Science. Each student receives a detailed report, which includes scores for the whole subject, scores for individual sections, and information about the questions they did best or worst on.

Cambridge Primary Progression Tests – these are tests that students write every year. They cover English, maths and science subjects. They are addressed to Cambridge Primary stages 3, 4, 5 and 6. They are assessed by teachers from the school where the child is studying, according to a score that is uniform for pupils worldwide. They can be carried out at any time during the school year. They make it possible to monitor the educational progress of both individual pupils and class groups against other classes, the school against other schools, etc.
